Part-time Administrator

Play Resource is seeking to recruit a Part-time Administrator to work 14 hours a week (preferably Tuesday and Thursday).

We are looking for someone with a minimum of one years experience as an Administrator/Secretary, with excellent IT levels of literacy and excellent communication and organisational skills.

Grass Caterpillar

 

You will need:

  • Cotton Wool
  • Green Poster Paint
  • Pipecleaners
  • Grass Seed
  • Pom-Poms
  • Glitter
  • Egg Boxes (scrap)

Instructions:

  1. Cut a long body shape from the egg boxes.
  2. Decorate the sides with poster paint + glitter.
  3. Wrap a piece of pipecleaner around a pom-pom.  You will need to make two of these.
  4. Push them through the front of the caterpillar to create antenae.
  5. Fill the egg boxes with cotton wool, and then sprinkle in some grass seed.  Water caterpillar regularly.

Seaside Collage Frame

 

You will need:

  • Paper mache frame
  • Paints
  • Felt
  • Foam
  • Buttons
  • Beads


Instructions:

  1. Paint the entire front of the frame white and leave to dry.
  2. Paint the inside of the frame turquoise.
  3. Use a fine paint brush to paint turquoise lines across the frame.
  4. Cut shapes from felt and foam and stick them inside the frame to create your seaside scene.
  5. Glue on some beads and buttons for added decoration.

Magic 8 Ball

 

You will need:
  • Model Magic
  • Polyball 30mm
  • Funky Foam Hearts
  • Sharpie Marker
  • Glue Gun
  • Jar with lid (scrap0

 

Instructions:

  1. Gently squash a polyball into a cube shape.  Write answers on the foam hearts using the marker.  Attach these to all 6 sides of the cube with a glue gun.
  2. Place the answer cube in the jar + fill to the top.  Close the jar tightly + check for leaks.  Use hot glue to seal.
  3. Cover the jar with model magic, starting at the lid.  Work your way down the jar leaving the bottom clear.  Leave to dry for 24 hours.

Egg Box Wreath

You will need:

  • Green Crepe Paper
  • Pritt-Stick
  • Glitter Glue
  • Poster Paint
  • Polyring
  • Egg Boxes (scrap)

Instructions:

  1. Cut some strips of green crepe paper about 3cm wide.  Use some pritt stick to glue one end of the crepe paper to the polyring.
  2. Wrap the tissue paper around the ring  and secure the end with some more glue.  Add another strip if needed.
  3. To make the flowers cut 10 cup sections from the base of an egg box.  Cut into these to create petals.  Use poster paint + glitter glue to decorate.

Attach the flowers to the wreath with some Pritt-stick.

Pretty Memo Board

 You will need:

  • MDF heart
  • Acrylic Paint 
  • PVA
  • Ribbon
  • Wooden Pegs
  • Glitter Glue
  • Buttons, gems etc
  • Giotto Varnish

Instructions:

  1. Paint the board in a colour and pattern of your choice.
  2. Varnish to give a finished look.
  3. Glue on the wooden pegs.
  4. Get creative and decorate with glitter glue, buttons, gemstones and ribbons.
  5. Use the same ribbon to hang.

Lollipop Felt Flowers

 

You will need:
  • Terracotta Flower Pot
  •  Felt
  •  Blue Tac
  • PVA glue
  • Lollipop Sticks
  • Buttons

Instructions:

1.     Cut out different sizes of circular and flower shapes from various colours of colour.

2.     Glue each layer on on top of each other, finishing by gluing a button in the centre.

3.     Glue the lollystick to the back of the flower.

Display using blue tac in a small terracotta pot.

Making Tracks

 

You will need:
  • Poster Paint
  • Paper (scrap)
  • Toy Vehicles (scrap)
  • Trays (scrap)

Instructions:

  1. This activity can be done with a group of children.  Very good for encouraging dialogue about different types of transport.
  2. Lay a large sheet of paper on the table of floor.
  3. Pour a small amount of poster paints into the bottom of trays.

Let the children dip the wheels of the different toy vehicles in the paint + push them over the paper to make tracks.  Good for dialogue about different types of transport

Beaded Bracelet

You will need:

  •   Yarn
  •  Beads

  Instructions:

  1. Cut three lengths of yarn – they should be long enough to go round the wrist about three times.
  2. Tie the ends of the yarn together in a knot.
  3. Plait the first few inches of the yarn, you may find it helpful to pin the top of the plait to something.
  4. Put a rubber band round the end of your plait to hold it in place.
  5. Continue plaiting, this time threading a bead onto your middle strand of yarn and plaiting the other two strands around it.
  6. Keep adding the beads until you have a few inches of yarn left, then finish with another simple plait and tie the ends in a knot.
  7. Experiment with different types of yarn and various colours and sizes of beads. You can make the plaits as long as you like!

Yoghurt Pot Frog

You will need:

  • 2 Yoghurt Pots
  • Safari Tissue Paper
  • PVA
  • Red Felt
  • Cardboard
  • Masking Tape
  • Green paint
  • Buttons

Instructions:

  1. Start by covering the yoghurt pots with masking tape and paint green.
  2. Using PVA, glue the safari tissue on as the frogs belly.
  3. Glue both pots together but not fully closed so that you can then glue the tongue to the inside of the bottom pot.
  4. Make 2 slits in the belly pot, one at either side and slot in the legs.
  5. Paint the legs green and the eyes white finishing with a button as the pupil.
  6. Finally cut out 2 feet from the card and glue to the bottom of the belly pot.

Welcome to a year of specialist arts and crafts at Play Resource!

We are excited to offer a new programme of training workshops to give people the chance to master a new skill, have fun, explore their creativity, and gets hands on experience with a qualified artist.

Venue & Times

Each workshop is designed to run over 3 afternoons from 1.30pm to 4.30pm, totaling 9 hours of arts and craft training dedicated to each topic, all taking place at Play Resource.

Cost

The programme offers great value! The cost of a workshop package for 3 sessions including materials is only £45 for members and £50 for non-members.
