You will need:

  • Yarn/ Wool
  • Balloons
  • PVA Glue
  • Yoghurt pots (scrap)

Instructions:

  1. Blow up some balloons. Don’t blow the balloons up completely, as a smaller sized balloon will support the structure of the string better.
  2. Set your balloon on a yoghurt pot for support. Put some PVA in a bowl or tray and mix with a little water. Soak a length of yarn in the mixture.
  3. Carefully begin winding the soaked yarn around the balloon. Try to cover a large area of the balloon, crossing the yarn over itself as much as possible. These are the areas that will stick together and secure the structure of the yarn egg.
  4. Leave the egg to dry.
  5. Once the glue has dried and the yarn feels hard, pop the balloon. The yarn should keep the shape of the balloon.
  6. Tie a new length of yarn to the top of the egg and hang up.
