Dawn Aston
I work as a visual artist, community artist and am a multiple award winning garden designer.
I am experienced in working with all ages and abilities. I have facilitated art workshops in the townships of S. Africa and back home in N. Ireland in schools, community centres, drop in centres, and charities. These projects have been diverse, from indoor artwork in drawing/painting/3D construction to outdoor murals/mosaic installations/design and production of sensory gardens in schools.
I have worked for Belfast City Council, Newtownabbey BC, Arts organisations and schools on ReImaging and Cross-community projects including Art & Landscape installations, murals and mosaic installations.
I ran my own Kids Art and History Club in Larne Museum and Arts Centre for a number of years.
Thorough planning is essential with the schools and groups. During workshops the children are encouraged to make choices and decisions, to develop ideas, learn new skills, and work together during the process of art making. The natural world, local environment and identity are common themes in many of my projects.

I have worked for a number of years as a community artist through Play Resource. I’m told I come across as friendly, enthusiastic and always striving to make every workshop fun while encouraging all participants to be creative and bring out their inner artist.
I work with all age groups and abilities and enjoy the challenge of being flexible on style and being creative with ideas. My workshops range from scrap sculpture, musical instruments, murals, mosaic, print, carnival masks to name but a few. I love the new ideas each group brings and I am always up for a challenge.

As a community artist with over 30 years of experience my range of skills is pretty broad but my three main areas of art are – Illustration, sculpture and photography.
I am particularly keen on illustrating children’s stories and have been commissioned to illustrate various publications and information packs.
Sculpture and in particular willow sculpture has been a growing interest for me in the last 10 years with many environmental pieces made for festivals and stage sets.
Photography has always been an important part of my work from simply recording events and work and I have developed a keen interest in photographing nature in close up and have exhibited this work at Play Resource. The development of my photography skills has led me explore animation using plasticine modelling.

Caroline Jeffrey
I am a positive enthusiastic person and really enjoy working with people in a visual way. Creativity and imagination has an exciting contagious energy: I love the way ideas seem to take on a life of their own and just keep growing….
I facilitate collaborative workshops and projects where everyone has the freedom to express themselves within a supportive friendly environment, while being given the technical skills they need to bring their ideas into reality.
My priority is that participants are engaged, inspired and excited by what they are doing.
I work with all age groups and abilities, but particularly enjoy working with teenage young people. I use a wide range of media, and have a lot of experience with issue based topics such as drugs, bullying, and anti-social behaviour. I also run classroom based teacher training projects.

“The classes and projects that I facilitate are prepared to meet the specific requirements of the participants. I will pre-plan activities to suit all levels of ability and guide everyone though each stage at their own individual pace. My main concerns are that there is a relaxed comfortable atmosphere that allows everyone a chance to learn, explore, reflect and achieve their highest creative potential.
“I have experience in working with early years, primary, secondary, older people, special needs, ethnic groups.”
